Sponsored by The Congressional Club, the event honors First Lady Laura Bush and active membership includes spouses of Members and former Members of Congress, spouses of Supreme Court Justices and spouses of the Members of the President's Cabinet. The Congressional Club was incorporated by an Act of Congress on May 20, 1908 and in 1912 the Club held a luncheon honoring the wife of the President of the United States. The luncheon has been held almost every year since its inception. |
